Krista Rombouts is Professor PhD at the Regenerative Medicine and Fibrosis Unit, Institute for Liver and Digestive Health, University College London (UCL), UK. She holds a PhD in Medicine from the Free University of Brussels (VUB), was postdoctoral fellow at the Hepatology Lab - University of Florence, joining UCL in 2012. Her current research interests are: 1) Fibrogenesis with focus on Hepatic Stellate Cell biology; 2) primary and secondary liver cancer cell biology; 3) non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH); and 4) usage of 2D and novel 3D cell culture systems for improvement of new target identification and drug development.
Prof Rombouts has over 50 publications in International peer reviewed scientific Journals PubMed NCBI (citations=3006, h-index of 25, i10-index of 34). She has teaching activities as Lead of 2 modules (MSc and BSc) and has supervised over the years many PhD fellows, MSc and BSc students. Prof Rombouts is Editorial Board Member of American Journal of Physiology (GI and Liver Physiology) and Journal of Hepatology. She has international academic collaborators and industrial partners.
