The LiverSeminars Program is an educational activity in which experts in the Hepatology field will come to one of the two organizing institutions (IDIBAPS in Barcelona, IiSGM in Madrid) to spend a whole day sharing basic and translational science. Visits will always have the same agenda: during the morning, the Expert will be able to meet in private with scientists from research centres geographically close to the Institution that welcomes him (please book your time slot at the “meet the speaker” tab), in the afternoon we will have the seminar itself that will be live broadcasted to the Institute that does not host the speaker. Please note that activities are not restricted to the personnel from the organizing institutions. In this page you will find detailed information about the invited Speakers and scientific topics that will be covered during this academic year.

JAN BOREN

Professor Jan Borén, MD, PhD is Professor and Director of the Institute of Medicine at Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg, and physician at the Department of Clinical Chemistry at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. His main long-term interest has been to understand the underlying mechanisms that lead to, and consequences of, lipid accumulation in the liver, arterial wall and heart, with the goal of translating this knowledge into effective treatment. His research program is translational and involves both in vitro and in vivo studies, including pathophysiological studies and mouse models, and kinetic studies in carefully phenotyped human volunteers. Dr. Borén’s achievements have been recognized by several honours.
